ADK Trails

About ADK Trails

ADK Trails helps you plan a hike in the Adirondacks. Pick a region, see the trails and where to park, and check whether DEC has closed anything or posted a warning, all in one place. It's free.

Where the trails come from

The trails come from New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the agency that manages the Forest Preserve. Trail lengths are for each trail on its own, one way, so your full hike from the car may be longer.

Closures and warnings

DEC posts closures, washouts, bridge outages and other warnings on its Adirondack page. We check that page several times an hour and show each alert on the trails it mentions, in DEC's own words, with a link back to DEC.

We match alerts to trails automatically, so we can miss one. No alert on a trail doesn't guarantee it's open. Not affiliated with NYS DEC. Conditions change — verify with DEC before you go. Emergencies: 911 or 1-833-NYS-RANGERS.

No signal at the trailhead?

Open a region and tap “Save for offline use.” The map and every trail page for that region are saved on your phone and work without signal. Update before your trip so you have the latest alerts.
